The Coalition for Nursing Careers in California is committed to achieving an adequate and diverse nursing workforce for the State of California. The Coalition has been pleased to offer scholarships twice per year for students in accredited nursing programs across California. The focus of this scholarship is to support nursing students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and those who are part of a group that is currently underrepresented in the nursing profession in California.
Bachelor of Science Nursing Scholarship

Students who have been accepted or enrolled into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. An awardee may receive up to $10,000 for this scholarship. Awardee commits to practicing direct patient care in a medically underserved area (MUA) of California for two-years.
Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship

Applicant's who have been accepted or enrolled in an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program. An awardee may receive up to $8,000 for this scholarship and commits to a two-year service obligation practicing in direct patient care in a medically underserved area (MUA) in California.
California Foundation for Gifted Education's Intellectual and Artistic Scholarship

California Foundation for Gifted Education provides a scholarship award of $1000 to be given to a gifted high school student enrolling in an institution of higher learning during the next school year. This scholarship has a different emphasis than most; instead of stressing grade point averages, need, or community service, the intent is to support an individual passion for learning or creating.Eligibility
1. Student must currently be in grade 11 or 12, and attending classes in a recognized California educational setting. (Juniors expecting to participate in an early entrance program at a participating college or university are eligible.)
2. Student must be planning to enter a recognized school of advanced education during the 2008-2009 school year.
3. Student must demonstrate outstanding achievement in a chosen area of talent or giftedness.
Association of California Water Agencies Scholarships

The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) awards three $3,000 scholarships each spring to qualified students in water resources-related fields. Eligible students must be California residents attending selected California schools (Participating Schools) full time as a junior or senior during the current academic year. M.F.K. Fisher Scholarship for Culinary Institute of America

Incoming students who have a demonstrated interest in food writing, and begin their studies at the CIA in the Winter or Spring enrollment seasons, are eligible to apply for this $2,000 scholarship (two scholarships are awarded for each season). To apply, you must submit a separate application. Your application will include an original essay of 500-700 words about a food memory, such as your first cooking experience, the first meal you prepared, a family holiday food tradition, or a childhood recollection of food.
Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Scholarship Program

Most scholarships are based on academic or athletic achievement, but this scholarship is based on life experience. It is a scholarship that no one wants to win; but is intended to help with the cost of college for a family struggling through a cancer experience. Since 2000, we have been honored to award $21,500 to 30 very deserving students. The scholarships are awarded in May to one senior at each of the five comprehensive high schools in El Dorado County, California. (El Dorado HS, Golden Sierra HS, Oak Ridge HS, Ponderosa HS and Union Mine HS). The scholarships are $1000 each, and are redemable with proof of college enrollment. Qualifications:
1. Applicants must have an immediate family member (living in the household), diagnosed with cancer of any type.
2. Applicants will complete application and write and essay (not more than 500 words) describing the lessons they learned from the cancer experience.
3. A parent or surviving family member must verify that the diagnosis is valid.

The Zinch.com California Scholarship

Amount: $1,000 Eligibility: High school student living in California, minimum 2.0 gpa, zinch profile complete. Judging: Both need of student and merit considered. Winners chosen based on what the student provides in his/her zinch profile. More: High school counselor must sign up (to confirm who you are) for you to be considered a finalist (It’s free and easy, but you gotta let them know).
