Mississippi State University strives to combine access and excellence in fulfilling its traditional role as The People�s University and in keeping with the needs of Mississippi. The Mississippi State Promise is a new program designed to help Entering Freshmen and Entering Community College Transfer students from low income Mississippi families attend Mississippi State University by ensuring that their tuition and required fees will be paid with grant/scholarship/waiver (non-loan) student aid.

The Christine and Clarence Day Scholarship, one of the largest scholarships available at The University of Mississippi, will be awarded to the most outstanding high school graduate interested in pursuing a major in Business Administration. The Day Business Scholar will receive $40,000 ($10,000 per year) over four years of study at Ole Miss. A committee in the School of Business Administration will annually select the single recipient from the incoming freshman class. Sponsor The Day Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Christine Rogers Day and Clarence Cearns Day. Mrs. Day was a native of Aberdeen, Mississippi, who was deeply involved in the community and had an intense interest in education. Mr. Day was a long-time resident of Aberdeen who was active in business and interested in both civic and educational endeavors. Both were committed to the value of higher education and the future of Mississippi. Qualifications Selection of the Day Business Scholar will be based on characteristics that indicate the ability to achieve an exceptional leadership and scholarship record in the School of Business Administration, as well as a subsequent successful career in the business sector. The Day Business Scholar must also: * be a graduate of a high school within the state of Mississippi * have and maintain a commitment to earn a degree from the Ole Miss School of Business Administration and to pursue a career in business * have an outstanding academic record, as evidenced by classroom performance and ACT or SAT scores * have a strong record of leadership in community organizations and student government or other student associations that reflects personal motivation, entrepreneurial activities, creative thinking, and the ability to lead others * have a reputation for high moral values and personal integrity * remain in good standing at The University of Mississippi and maintain a 3.5 grade-point average in a major within the School of Business Administration Application Procedure To apply for the Day Business Scholarship, you must submit * a completed scholarship application * a University of Mississippi application for undergraduate admission * an official high school transcript * two letters of recommendation (one from a teacher, and one from a character reference) * verification of your GPA, class rank, and the number of students in your class Your high school counselor should have the application for the scholarship, or you may submit the application online at by clicking on the link below.
